On May 21, 2014, Building Products of Canada Corp. (“BP”) initiated a voluntary safety recall of Gripgard SX.
Gripgard SX is a waterproofing, self-adhesive membrane that is designed to be applied to the deck of a building’s roof prior to the installation of shingles. The top surface of Gripgard SX is embedded with sand. Under certain conditions, embedded sand may become dislodged and create a slippery work surface until shingles are installed. There is no risk associated with Gripgard SX once shingles are installed.
BP is not aware of any injuries associated with this issue.
BP is committed to product safety and the highest product quality standards. As such, BP has stopped all distribution of Gripgard SX, and is implementing a voluntary safety recall of Gripgard SX in co-ordination with Health Canada.
Consumers should stop using Gripgard SX immediately and contact BP for information regarding product exchange and/or refund.
For more information, consumers can contact BP at: firstname.lastname@example.org
